AQUACISE
Aqua Aerobics classes are back! The ORC & Washburn Towers are partnering to offer Beginning Aqua Therapy, Intermediate Aqua Aerobics, & Advanced Aquacise at the Washburn Towers Indoor Pool. Taught by seasoned instructors, these classes are excellent for building and developing physical strength and stamina without strenuous joint impact. The workouts utilize water resistance to increase cardiovascular endurance and muscle tone. Being a skilled swimmer is not a requirement as participants will workout in waist-deep water. Parent and Child Aquatics ($25.00) 6-18 mos, 18-36 mos, Pre 3, Pre 4
Parent-Child (6 month to 5 years): These courses are designed to familiarize children with the water. The goal is not to teach the child to swim but rather to get them adjusted to the water. Since this is an interactive parent-tot class, parents are expected to be in the water with their child. Parents do not have to know how to swim, but should be comfortable in the water. Class sessions focus on underwater exploration, having fun in the water through games/songs, and learning elementary skills including bubble blowing and assisted front & back floating.
Learn To Swim Program ($30.00) Level 1 and 2
|
Level 1 (Ages 4-5 years): Water exploration; learn elementary skills such as floating and kicking on front and back, alternating arm action, and safety skills. |
|
Level 2: Students learn basic stroke skills, including front and back crawl and flutter kick with finning and safety skills. |
Learn To Swim Program ($30.00) Level 3 and 4
|
Level 3: Students build on aquatic skills presented in Level 2. Guided practice in the front crawl, back crawl, stroke development skills, diving from side of the pool, safety and rescue skills.
Level 4: Students develop confidence and competency in stroke, safety and rescue skills learned in previous levels. Learn the basics of the breaststroke, sidestroke, turns, sustained treading of water, and rescue breathing. |
Learn To Swim Program ($30.00) Level 5 and 6
|
Level 5: Students coordinate and refine key strokes including more intense focus on the butterfly, open turns, and feet first surface dives. |
|
Level 6: Refines the strokes to swim with ease, efficiency, power and smoothness over greater distances. Level 6 is designed with options for preparing for advanced courses such as personal water safety, lifeguard readiness, fundamentals of diving, and fitness swimming. |
